RESUME DEVELOPMENT

Is your resume working effectively for you?

Is your resume focused on a target role or is it a career chronology summary replete with a dense list of bulleted tasks hopeful that some experience may resonate with a possible employer?

If you ask 100 people advice about a resume you will likely get 100 different responses or more! The resume is a marketing document in the job search.  It should be written to invite a conversation with those you are interested in working with to further the development of the relationship.  How a resume is prepared reflects a sample of your skills and it is often the first sample of your work a hiring organization sees of your capabilities.

The resume, alone, will not land you the job but it is an important step in starting a conversation to build the relationship that will land you the job.

Note: There is a wealth of information to be gleaned from a resume. A reader can learn a lot about a candidate from the style, lay-out, word choice and writing perspective. This is all critical information available to a discerning reader that will help determine a next step conversation and ultimate fit for a role. As a matter of ethical consideration, I do not alter candidate resumes for current active Tartan Group, LLC search projects.

I do help job search support clients understand the messages they are sending in the resume both intended and unintended. You might be surprised what messages you send in a resume.
